In Honor of Valentine’s Day, we are
showcasing a circa 1893 Wedding Dress
of Mary Cornelia Weaver Hall
from the museum’s collection.
Mary Cornelia Weaver Hall (born August 18, 1859- died May 6, 1930)
married William Madison Hall of Oakville Farm in 1893. The dress
is handmade; in addition, the lace and satin details were applied
one stitch at a time. Imagine the dedication it took to make a dress like this:
The most notable feature of Oakville Farm is the use of dormer windows rising flush with the façade of the house, the only such instance in Westmoreland County.
