Join the Westmoreland County Museum in celebrating the start of the Christmas season with the Montross Spirit Festival. The event will kick off on Friday, December 2, 2022, with events around town. During the day, the Town of Montross invites people to the following events:
- 7 am-3 pm: Breakfast and Lunch at the Art of Coffee. Holiday drink specials throughout the day!
- 9 am-1 pm: Christmas grab and go bags (for young and not-so-young!) at the Montross Branch Library
- 10 am-4 pm: Bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and receive a bag of Christmas cookies, and a raffle ticket for a $100 Amazon gift card at Exit realty.
- 11:30 am-9 pm: Lunch and Dinner specials at Yesterday’s Restaurant
- 11 am-Close: Try out the Christmas ale at the Montross Brewery & Beer Garden. Homemade traditional Ginger Ale also available. Ugly Sweater Contest begins at 5 pm.
- 1 pm-5 pm: Grinch display for photos, along with Grinch cookies at Atlantic Union Bank.
- 4 pm-6 pm: Christmas carols and punch in front of C&F Bank.
- 4 pm- 7pm: Refreshments and in house door prizes, along with a special appearance by Santa at Miss Lora’s Flowers & Gifts.
We will join the festivities from 4 pm – 7pm with a Christmas train and free holiday treats at the Wakefield Building. The Mercantile, located inside the Wakefield Building, has local items for sale. New for the season- soaps and local hand towels. We also are selling Cat’s Meow collectables for half-off! At 5 pm drop into the Historic Courthouse to warm up and work on a holiday themed craft.
The main event will happen at 6 pm, with the lighting of the Spirit Tree in the Courtyard. There will be a special appearance by the Hearts in Motion Dance Studio, along with free Brunswick stew, cookies, and hot chocolate.
Wrap up the evening back at the Art of Coffee for a Christmas music performance by the Montross Middle School Band and Choir, from 7 pm – 8 pm.

Come on over to the Historic Courthouse to visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus. The couple will be available from 10am-1 pm. Elves from Little Eagles Child Development Center will provide entertainment while the children wait for their turn to visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus.
