AFrican American Exhibit

“African American Military of Westmoreland County.”

Thank you to Daisy Howard-Douglas for enriching this exhibit by providing objects from her own personal collection.

Thank you to Alva Jackson for including the Westmoreland County Museum and other NNK museums & historic sites in the Northern Neck Hidden History Trail that “reveals a more comprehensive and inclusive historic picture through the lenses of people of color to promote a greater ‘Sense of Place’ “. Stop by the Historic Courthouse to see this new, permanent exhibit!

This exhibit salutes our African American men and women who have served in military activities dating back to the American Revolution. Many of the artifacts and pictures have been provided by Mrs. Daisy Howard-Douglas from her own collections.
