February 2024 Newsletter

Newly added to the Westmoreland County Museum's Library are the family history books shown below from the late Bea England's collection.

Thanks to Butch Filkoski for donating two display cases to the museum, including the one photographed below from the former Harris Variety store. We look forward to using them in the Wakefield building store. We appreciate Butch and his crew that brought it right to us! What nice neighbors.

In addition to running the train in the Montross Soda Shoppe this year, Garry Keckley also donated the Christmas village buildings below to add to our display. We really appreciate his generosity to us.

In Memoriam

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of long-time museum supporter, George Ripol. He will be greatly missed. Here are some photos of him helping the museum and attending our events:

In honor of Presidents' Day, WCM is raising funds to restore our Presidents' Garden busts of Washington, Madison, and Monroe. You can donate to this project via Facebook or you can send a check to WCM, P. O. Box 247, Montross, VA 22520. Please designate on the check or with a note that you would like your donation to go to the "restoration" project.
